WEIGHT TRAINING HELP
 
Need some help with your weight training program?  Whether you are new to weight training, in need of a complete routine make-over or just looking for some tips and motivation, the City of Langley Fitness Team is here to help you reach your goals. 
 
WEIGHT ROOM ORIENTATIONS: 
Book a 1 hour orientation with one our BCRPA certified trainers and learn how to use the cardio and strength equipment safely and effectively.  Orientations will include a basic program designed for beginners to get you started in the weight room with confidence.  Please note, this is not a personal training program - it is a beginner program suitable for most individuals starting out with weight training.

Cost:  $12.50+gst

Dates/ Times:  A variety of days and times are available for Weight Room Orientations.  Please check with reception staff at Timms Community Centre to book a convenient time for you.  604-514-2940.

PERSONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS:  

Work with a certified BCRPA personal trainer to create a tailored fitness program to meet your specific needs and goals.  Personal Training sessions are one hour each and will include a fitness assessment, detailed program design, motivational workouts and support from your trainer.  Need extra motivation and support?  Book tandem training sessions and train with a friend or spouse!  Training sessions will be scheduled according to your availability so there's no excuse.... book your trainer today!

GROUP WEIGHT TRAINING PROGRAMS:

TEEN PUMP PROGRAM:  13-16 YRS.

A comprehensive weight training program just for teens teaching the safest, most effective techniques and exercises.  Youth 13-15yrs who successfully complete the TEEN PUMP Program will be permitted into the Timms Community Centre Weight Room without Adult Supervision.

Tai-Chi (Yang style)

Brought to you by the Fraser Valley Tai Chi Arts (formerly known as Fraser Valley Taijiquan Association). Instructor Travis Crombie is a 7th generation teacher of Yang Style Tai. Chi with over 30 years experience.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese exercise which emphasizes slow, graceful, connected, flowing movements helping to cultivate a relaxed body and mind. It combines the calm of meditation, the harmonizing and healing potential of the best medicine and the subtle skills of the internal martial arts. Beginners welcome!  This course will teach:

- the fundamental exercises which will help loosen and relax the body;

Fit 4 Two™ offers a variety of fitness programs that are safe and effective for mom's to be and new moms.  Proper exercise and fitness routines may help with not only childbirth but recovery afterwards.  Fit 4 Two™ Instructors a specially trained to tailor workouts according to the needs of expecting moms and those new moms.  Classes are informative, fun and very social... great way to meet other mom's in your neighbourhood and spend some quality time with your babies.

Stretch, breath and relax your body back into shape. Enjoy Asanas (postures) specifically tailored to your needs as a new mother. STROLLER FITNESS

Get a full body workout while spending time with your baby!  Each class includes intervals of power walking, functional strength training and cardio drills followed by post-natal specific core work and flexibility training.  Ideal for babies who like to be on the move and a great way to meet and socialize with other moms in your community.  This class is indoor/outdoor whether permitting- please dress accordingly.

BOOTCAMP

Join us for an early morning workout that will get your day started with renewed energy and motivation! This workout is designed to burn fat and build lean muscle mass through a series of action-packed cardio pumps, upper and lower body calisthenics, basic weight training, field drills, shadow boxing, balance training, core exercises and ABS, ABS and more ABS!  Not suitable for those new to exercise, beginner bootcampers welcome!

WELLNESS WORKSHOPS

FOAM ROLLING 101

Have you always wondered what to do with those foam rollers you've seen in the gym?  Do you suffer from muscle tension in your back, hips and legs?  Foam rolling is beneficial for people from all walks of life - from dedicated athleted and runners to pregnant women to inactive seniors looking to improve their range of motion.  When done right, using a foam roller is like giving yourself a deep dissue massage - it increases bloodflow, stimulates the lymph shystem and reduces discomfort caused by tight muscles.  Foam rolling just may change your life.  Please note:  participants must be mobile enough to get up and down from the floor.  This class is free for those with an Active Legacy Pass as part of our Seniors Week Celebrations.  Pre-registration is required as space is limited.

INDOOR CYCLING 101

An introduction to the world of indoor cycling "spinning".  Indoor cycling is a great cardiovascular workout that offers maximum calorie burning benefits with minimal impact n your hips, knees and ankles.  The pumping music and enthusiasm creates a party-like atmosphere that is motivating but also may be intimidating to those new to the activity.  This program is for true beginners...all fitness levels are welcome.  Focus is on bike set-up, proper posture and how to adjust the tension settings.  Once everyone is comfortable on their bikes the instructor will lead a "mock" class teaching some of the lingo and how to ride to the rhythm of the music.  This class is free for those with an Active Legacy Pass as part of our Seniors Week Celebrations.  Pre-registration is required as space is limited.

STRONGER YOU INTRO

Ladies Only Introductory Strength & Conditioning Program

Ladies it's your time - time to become health educated, confident and STRONG!  Our Certified Personal Trainer will coach you and several other woment through a health and wellness journey that will not only transform your body but your mind and spirit as well!  Participants will meet 2X per week for four weeks and be introduced to a variety of weight room exercises and home workouts designed by our instructor to meet your specific goals. This program is meant to be a starting point for a healthier more active lifestyle allowing participants to continue on their own using the tools, knowledge and confidence gained from the training program.  No previous weight training experience needed - beginners welcome!  Instructor:  Caszie.

 TEEN PUMP (13-16yrs)

Weight lifting is a great way to not only get in shape but improve your mood, relieve stress and increase your energy.  Working with a certified Personal Trainer, youth will learn the safest and most effective methods for strength and conditioning in the weight room.  The trainer will customize a workout plan based on individual goals and needs while teaching youth how to safely use the equipment in a small group setting.  Youth who successfully complete the Teen Pump program will be permitted to use the Timms Community Centre Weight Room without Adult supervision.

PILATES

Restore physical vitality, invigorate your mind and elevate your spirit!  Pilates is a low-impact technique that focuses on developing muscle balance and postural awareness through precise movements and specific breathing techniqes.  Pilates combines elements of Yoga, Modern Dance and Gymnastics to tone your muscles creating a lean, flexible physique.  This program is suitable for all fitness levels- beginners welcome!  Participants must be comfortable getting to and from the floor.

OSTEOFIT LEVEL 1

Offered in partnership with BC Women's Health Centre, this introductory level exerise program is for people with Osteoporosis, those at an increased risk of fracture or have already had one or more fractures.  Emphasis is on building strength and improving balance to prevent falls.
