Vision & Values

Family walking through a forested trail.

Langley City is ambitious, and this ambition goes beyond being a great place to invest because of a prime location and a low cost of doing business. We want to attract businesses and residents through vibrant cultural offerings, a large collection of amenities, excellent recreational opportunities, and a supportive City government.

Langley City: Nexus of Community
A broad imagining of what the future of Langley City will look like has been developed within our recent vision strategy, Langley City: Nexus of Community.

Capitalizing on the opportunity that the planned SkyTrain extension presents both for Langley City as well as the broader southeastern Metro Vancouver area that we anchor, this strategy will guide our growth and development over the next 25+ years, with the goal of ensuring that we achieve the full potential that SkyTrain provides us. Read the full report to see all that we have planned for our future.

2017-2021 Strategic Plan
Our corporate mission is to be a vibrant, healthy, and safe community, and this is reflected in our corporate strategic plan. We have identified seven areas in which we are focusing our efforts, with more information on the specific initiatives in pursuit of these goals found in the plan document:

  • Infrastructure Renewal
  • Quality of Life
  • Communication
  • Revitalization
  • Environment
  • Protective Services
  • Organizational Excellence

With a low cost of living and well-paying jobs, Langley City offers a great quality of life. In neighbourhoods throughout the city, you can find people keeping active at community centres, catching up on the street, and enjoying their local parks in our temperate climate. In the historic downtown, locals and visitors alike stroll through shops and dine at restaurants, while music or performances might play in the background from McBurney Plaza. Langley City is a dynamic community with a large collection of entertainment and recreation options providing something for everyone.

In our Community Survey, residents noted Langley City's central location, collection of amenities, peaceful neighbourhoods, lush open spaces, and community spirit as what they liked most about living here.
