The Engineering and Parks Operations crews work out of Operations Centre located at 5713 / 5653 198 Street, Langley. The Operations crew’s hours of work are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm from September until the Easter long weekend, then their work hours change to 7:00 am to 3:30 pm to take advantage of the daylight and longer construction window during the spring and summer months.
The Engineering and Parks Operations crews are continuously working towards maintaining and improving the City's infrastructure. The majority of the duties performed are the result of annual maintenance programs required to ensure that the City's infrastructure operates in a safe and efficient manner. However, we are also required to respond to unforeseen issues as they are brought to our attention. We are made aware of most issues in the field from reports by the public, these reports are crucial in assisting the Engineering and Parks Operations staff in identifying and responding to situations in a timely manner. Residents and business owners are encouraged to contact the City with any questions or concerns related to City-owned property. Requests can be made via telephone with enquiries directed to 604-514-2800. Alternatively, we encourage you to use our online Request for Service system. For after-hours emergencies please contact Surrey Fire Dispatch at 604-534-3496.
On any given day you may find the City's Engineering and Parks Operations staff sweeping the streets, watering hanging baskets, picking litter, cleaning the street signs, repairing burnt-out street lights, mowing park grounds, patching potholes, maintaining playground equipment, pruning trees and repairing water leaks, just to highlight some of their duties.
